If the September 1 cover story of Star Magazine is to be believed, 32-year old Ashton Kutcher is cheating on his wife, 47-year old Demi Moore, and that their marriage is in danger of falling apart because of this.  The actor, in response, lashed out at the magazine in his Twitter account saying that calling him a “cheater” would qualify as defamation of character.

On Thursday, Marty Singer, Kutcher’s lawyer, said that the story in question is a lie and demanded that the magazine issue a retraction and an apology.  In the event that the magazine will not issue a retraction, Singer revealed that Kutcher is prepared to evaluate his legal options.

According to the magazine report, an eyewitness has seen Kutcher making out with a 20-something sexy and gorgeous blond girl in the hallway bathroom of Italian restaurant Madeo in Los Angeles.  This alleged incident is said to have happened in July.  Kutcher’s lawyer denied that the actor had ever been to Madeo in July.

Demi Moore has backed up his husband’s Twitter tweets by re-tweeting them and adding her view.  Moore wrote ‘No question!” in response to Kutcher’s tweet “I think Star magazine calling me a “cheater” qualifies as defamation of character.  I hope my lawyer agrees.”   Also, she wrote “Excellent point my love!” in Kutcher’s tweet “Star magazine – you don’t get to stand behind “freedom of the press” when you are writing fiction.”  The spokesperson for Star, on the other hand, said that the magazine is standing by its story and that Kutcher’s rep denied the said rumor in their version of the story online.

The same magazine reported in May that Demi Moore is worried that her husband may cheat on her.  Moore is said to have been jealous of the kissing scenes between Kutcher and Natalie Portman while filming the movie Friends With Benefits.  Earlier in April, it was also reported that Moore’s jealousy of Kim Kardashian was the reason behind the cyber war on Twitter between the two women.  The 15-year difference between Kutcher and Moore’s ages is said to be a reason for Moore’s insecurity.

The May-December love affair of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore was scoffed at during its initial stages mainly because of their age difference.  They started dating in 2003 and got married in a traditional Kabbalah ceremony in Beverly Hills in 2005.  They will be celebrating their 5^th wedding anniversary come September 25.

Hollywood actor Michael Douglas appeared Tuesday night on Late Night and talked about his stage-four throat cancer in a candid interview with host David Letterman.  The two men hugged each other at the end of the interview.  The 65-year old movie star only discovered he has a late-stage throat cancer three weeks ago.

Looking gaunt but remarkably good-spirited, Michael Douglas looked healthy considering his condition.  He announced his condition last August 16.  He just completed his first week of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.  According to him, his cancer remains above the neck area and it has not metastasized to other parts of his body so he is still optimistic that he can still be cured.  Moreover, he said that expectations are good with at least 80 percent chance of recovery.

His wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, expressed her frustration that doctors were not able to diagnose the cancer months ago.  Douglas is said to have complained of a persistent sore throat and ear pain earlier this summer and saw the doctors about it but the test he underwent failed to find a cause.  So he and his wife went ahead on a planned summer vacation traveling to Russia and Spain with their two children, 10-year old Dylan and 7-year old Carys.  Since Douglas’ condition did not improve upon his return, the doctors did a biopsy of a tumor they found at the base of his throat.  The biopsy results revealed that Douglas has a stage four throat cancer.

According to Douglas, his unhealthy lifestyle and recent personal problems may have contributed to the disease.  He admitted that he smoked and drank.  He also acknowledges stress due to his son’s, Cameron, imprisonment on drug charges and the demand of his ex-wide, Diandra, to have half of his Wall Street salary.

According to the National Institutes of Health, the use of either alcohol or tobacco puts a person at risk for developing throat cancer.  The combination of the two is said to increase the risks.  Moreover, men, especially those who are older than 50 years old, are more likely to develop throat cancer than women.

Douglas starred in blockbuster hits like Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct.  He won an Oscar for his role as the greedy Gordon Gekko in the 1987 film Wall Street.  He is currently promoting  Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, a sequel directed by Oliver Stone.  The film is set to be released in September 24.

Disney-Pixar’s 3D computer-animated film, Toy Story 3, topped the list of the top-earning movies released for summer 2010 and became the first animated movie to pass the $1 billion mark and became the seventh film to do so at the worldwide box office.   Toy Story 3 is the third film of the Toy Story series produced by Pixar Animation Studio and released by Walt Disney Pictures.

Toy Story 3 is said to have earned more than the combined earnings of Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2.  It is also the second film from Walt Disney Pictures to reach $1 billion in a year, after Alice In Wonderland, and marked the first time for a studio to have two billion-dollar films within just a single year.

Despite the reported 6% fall in summer 2010 movie ticket sales as compared to the same time in 2009, a number of movies released this summer managed to make good in the box office.  This decrease is seen to be due to the shorter industry season this year, having only 18 weekends compared to the 19 weekends of summer 2009.

Running in second place is Shrek Forever, the fourth installation in Dream Works Animation’s Shrek movie series.  This final Shrek movie is said to be the worst performing of the four Shrek movies in the United States but the movie got its much needed boost from its overseas ticket sales.  The overseas ticket sales of Shrek Forever is said to comprise around 64% of its total earnings.

At third place is Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.  Though expectations were high for this installment of The Twilight Saga series, Eclipse failed to surpass the earnings of its predecessor, New Moon.  Still, it took in respectable earnings and Summit has already announced the release dates for the next two installations if this very popular Twilight series for November 2011 and November 2012.

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 2, the second in the planned Iron Man trilogy, is at fourth place in 2010’s summer box office.  This Iron Man sequel succeeded to surpass the earnings of the first Iron Man movie released last 2008.  The film was distributed by Paramount Pictures.

Time Warner Studio’s Inception is at the fifth rank, a science fiction action film by Christopher Nolan.  Inception is the only movie in summer 2010’s top 5 movies that was not a sequel of an already successful franchise nor was it based on a book, an old movie, or a known character.

While it may seem like an odd way of settling a pending lawsuit but the owner of an RV dealership sued by “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner has indeed dared the actor to do a push-up challenge to resolve the case.

Lautner, 18, filed a breach of contract and fraud lawsuit against 47-year old Brent McMahon, owner of McMahon’s RV in Irvine, California, last August 23 over the dealership’s alleged late delivery of a customized vehicle ordered by the actor.  Lautner claimed that the dealership failed to deliver the RV on time.  The RV is said to cost $300,000 and was to be used as a Lautner’s dressing room on the set of his latest film, Abduction. The vehicle was expected to be delivered last June 21 but was not delivered on time.

In the lawsuit filed by Lautner, it claimed that McMahon’s RV failed to deliver on time the customized RV and that it still needed additional work even after it was delivered.  However, it was unclear on what kind of upgrades Lautner sought.  According to McMahon, he gave the vehicle a custom paint job.

It was reported that Lautner’s camp wants to resolve the case in the tune of a $40,000 settlement and unspecified damages for “annoyance’ and “emotional distress” to the actor.  McMahon, instead, issued his unorthodox proposal to Lautner.  According to him, he will donate the settlement money to Orange County’s Children’s Hospital if he won the push-up contest.

McMahon and his lawyer had already denied any wrongdoing and vowed to defend the case in court in the event that Lautner does not accept the challenge.  Robert Barba, Lautner’s attorney, initially declined to comment on the matter and cited the pending lawsuit.  However, Barba then responded that McMahon is a “moron” and that McMahon just donate the sum to a charity of Lautner’s choice for the issue to be resolved.  Barba further commented that McMahon’s challenge is demonstrative of his lack of professionalism.

Lautner has appeared in various message and shot to fame in the Twilight movie series for his role as the Native American werewolf Jacob Black in love triangle with the main characters of the human Bella Swann and the vampire Edward Cullen.  The movie series is based on Stephanie Meyer’s best selling Twilight series books.

Lautner is currently considered the highest paid teenage actor and has been named the second sexiest man of 2010 by Glamour magazine.

Paris Hilton once again had a brush with authorities when she was arrested in Las Vegas shortly before midnight last Friday for suspicion of felony cocaine possession. She was subsequently released according to her lawyer on Saturday.

Hilton’s lawyer David Chernoff appealed to the public to let the issue be settled in court and not on the media. He also voiced his encouragement for people not to quickly judge his client until all the pertinent facts have been dealt with by the court.

Hilton, the 29-year old controversial celebrity, socialite, TV and movie celebrity, and singer was with his boyfriend, Cy Waits when the incident occurred. Waits is night club mogul and the manager of a club inside the Wynn Las Vegas. The two were aboard a black Cadillac Escalade SUV owned by Waits when they were apprehended by the police at around 11:30 p.m. last Friday.

A police officer was alerted by the smoke wafting from the SUV boarded by Hilton and Waits. The police officer followed the smell and suspected it as the odor of marijuana.

When Hilton pulled out a tube of lip balm from her purse, a bindle of cocaine inside a plastic bag is said to have fell out of her purse. She was then arrested because of suspicion for felony cocaine possession. Hilton’s boyfriend, Waits, on the other hand, was charged with driving under the influence.

Both Hilton and Waits were booked into the Clark County Jail. Sources close to Hilton said that the purse where the police found the cocaine was not hers.

This is the second instance when Hilton was arrested on allegations of drug possession. A few months ago, she was detained in South Africa after a soccer match during the World Cup on suspicion of marijuana possession. South African authorities dropped the charges against Hilton earlier this summer after the local police said that a friend accompanying Hilton to the soccer match was the one in possession of marijuana.

Hilton was charged with alcohol-related reckless driving in 2007 and was sentenced to 45 days in jail. She also spent three weeks in a jail in Los Angeles as penalty for her violation of her probation in the said case.

Paris Hilton is a hotel heiress being a great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of the popular Hilton hotels. She herself runs her own multimillion dollar business including wine, fragrances, and clothing line based on her name.

It seems that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is not that keen about the Facebook movie entitled The Social Network scheduled to premier next month in the New York Film Festival.  The movie is about the founding of the very popular social networking site Facebook.

The movie is based on the 2009 book by Ben Mezrich, The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal.  The movie The Social Network will focus on how Facebook was created by friends Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin in 2004 when they were still undergraduates at the Harvard University, how they rose to fortune and fame, and how their rift led to many lawsuits and the fight for hundreds of millions of dollars.

In July 2009, the script was leaked on the internet.  In September of the same year, actor Jessie Eisenberg was chosen to play the role of Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and the youngest billionaire at 26 years old.

Facebook is dismissing the movie as a mere fiction but the movie’s producers said that the “conflicting truths” of the controversial beginnings of Facebook are revealed in the film.

The movie is said to portray Zuckerberg as having built Facebook to get girls and as having screwed his early colleagues and partners.  Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes dismissed as crazy the portrayal of Zuckerberg as having created Facebook to gain power and to get girls.  Another co-founder of the said popular social networking site, Dustin Moskovitz, said that contrary to what was depicted in the movie’s trailer, a lot less sex and a lot more work characterized the company’s beginnings.

Zuckerberg and his colleagues, wary of the damage that may be caused by the movie, are said to have struggled with the movie’s producers behind closed doors.  Though producers made some minor changes in the movie to appease them, they did not give in to make the bigger ones the Facebook executives asked for.

Due to various complaints made by Zuckerberg and company about the film, Scott Rudin, one of the producers of The Social Network, clarified that the movie tells about the two differing stories that were told in two court cases, involving Zuckerberg and his colleagues, which ended in settlements.

The film was written by award-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin and directed by David Fincher.  The movie is scheduled to be released on October 1 by Sony Pictures and is going to be distributed by Columbia Pictures.

After a very controversial split, Elin Nordegren, Tiger Wood’s ex-wife, broke her silence in an interview with People magazine.  The interview was released two days after their divorce was finalized by Bay County Circuit Judge Judy Pittman Biebel in Florida last Monday.

The terms of the divorce settlement was not divulged to the media.  It has been reported that custody is a key issue in the carefully guarded secret settlement.

Woods and Nordegren were married in a lavish ceremony in Barbados on October 5, 2004.  Their daughter, Sam, is 3 years old and their son, Charlie, is 18 months old.

The couple is reported to share custody of both of their children.  They announced that they would co-parent when they released a statement last Monday to the media.  They are also reported to have undergone parenting classes online.

Known as a very private person, 30-year old Swedish born model Nordegren broke her silence but said it will be the first and last interview that she will give about her marriage to sports superstar Tiger Woods.

Nordegren said that she was not aware of Wood’s extramarital affairs and she was embarrassed that she never suspected it.  She also said that the past nine months, after his husband’s infidelity surfaced, was hell for her.  She also denied that she hit Woods with a golf club and dismissed speculations of it as ridiculous.  She also said that there never was any violence either outside or inside their home.

According to her, she wanted to give their marriage a chance and that both Woods and she had tried to reconcile their relationship.  In the end, she said that it is not good for all concerned love and trust are lacking in a marriage.

Nine months ago, Woods drove his SUV over a fire hydrant and crashed into a tree on Thanksgiving night.  This incident set off shocking revelations of Wood’s infidelity with his multiple affairs with other women. On December 11, 2009, after publicly admitting that he has been cheating on his wife, Woods announced he would take an indefinite leave from golf so that he can focus on his marriage.  A month after the scandal, Woods underwent therapy for two months in an effort to save their marriage.

Jamie Grubbs, one of Wood’s mistresses released incriminating text messages and a cell phone message allegedly from Woods in December, a month after his car crash.  Several women also came forward with their stories of their affairs with Woods.  In February of this year, Woods gave a public apology.

This year’s Miss Universe pageant culminated with the coronation of 22-year old Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete who won as Miss Universe 2010.  She bested other contestants from 82 countries and becoming the 59^th Miss Universe in history.  Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez relinquished her crown to her successor as the audience cheered amid the waving of Mexican flags.

Miss Universe 2010 Jimena Navarrete hails from Guadalajara, Mexico and is a model by profession.  She is the second Mexican to win the Miss Universe title after Lupita Jones who won in 1991.  As coincidence would have it, both Navarrete and Jones won in Las Vegas, USA.  Her victory ruined Miss Venezuela Marelisa Gibson’s bid to give her country an unprecedented third consecutive win in the 58 years of the pageant.

Though Navarrete was not predicted to win the title, she topped the evening gown competition with her flowing ruby-red gown.  She also was the in top two of the swimsuit competition.  During the question and answer portion, Olympic gold medal figure skater Evan Lysacek asked her about her views on unsupervised internet use.  Answering through an interpreter, Navarrete answered, “I do believe that Internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time.  We must be sure to teach them the values we learned as a family.”

Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillips emerged as the first runner up while Miss Australia Jenista Campbell was announced second runner up.  Miss Ukraine Anna Poslavska was declared third runner up and Miss Philippines Venus Raj was fourth runner up.

Right after her coronation, Mexican President Felipe Calderon issued a congratulatory message on Twitter and said that her winning the Miss Universe title will help improve Mexico’s image as a country.

Navarrete was born on February 22, 1988 and has been modeling since she was 15 years old.  Prior to her joining beauty contests, she studied nutrition.  She plans to pursue her studies in nutritional science.  She also plans to draw the world’s attention to the plight of people afflicted with breast cancer and HIV/AIDS during her reign as Miss Universe.

As this year’s Miss Universe, Navarrete won a luxury New York apartment plus living expenses, an undisclosed salary, jewelry, clothes, shoes, and a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy.

The Miss Universe 2010 pageant was shown in more than 190 countries worldwide.  It was held in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and the pageant’s program were hosted by Bret Michaels and Natalie Morales.

With more than 600 viewers, the 58-year old pageant is one of the most publicized beauty contests in the whole world.  The pageant was broadcasted live on NBC.

Move over, Britney Spears.  Lady Gaga is now the new Queen of Twitter.  Britney Spears’ reign as the celebrity with the most followers on Twitter ended last Friday.  By afternoon of August 20, people following Lady Gaga reached 6,670,779, narrowly overtaking Britney Spear’s 5,668,825 followers.  Britney Spears has enjoyed being the Queen of Twitter for quite some time after he grabbed the crown from Ashton Kutcher.

According to Famecount.com, running in third spot with the highest number of followers is Demi Moore’s flame and erstwhile King of Twitter, Ashton Kutcher, with 5,542,023 followers.  With 5,053,073 follows, the Ellen Degeneres Show occupies the fourth spot while President Barack Obama of the United States Of America occupying the fifth spot with 5,003,469 followers.

Lady Gaga joined Twitter on March 26, 2008 and has steadily climbed up in the list of Twitter people with the most number of followers.  Her first tweet was “ Rehearsing for my video ‘Just Dance’ and am now at WMC to perform at the Armani and Nervous Records party. But I am no nervous record”.  She has written some 460 tweets since then.

Unlike Britney Spears’ tweets that are either personal notes appearing when she attends an event or promotional messages from her staff, all of Lady Gaga’s tweets are said to come directly from her.  Her tweets were later being reposted on Facebook, another social media site.

Aside from her popularity in Twitter, Lady Gaga is also considered the biggest name in another social networking site, Facebook.  According to Famecount.com, Lady Gaga overtook President Barack Obama as the living person with the highest number of Facebook fans by the first week of July.  The Paparazzi singer’s fans on Facebook is then said to have reached 10 million.  According to the said report, the number of Lady Gaga’s Facebook followers rose to more than 16 million in less than two months.

It seems that the people’s fascination with Lady Gaga does not end in with her fans and followers on Facebook and Twitter.  Last month in YouTube, her Bad Romance video placed second to Justin Bieber’s Baby video for the most video streams.  The Bieber-Ludacris collaboration had 245,746,720 plays while Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance had 245,493,709 plays.

The 24-year old Lady Gaga is best known for her provocative moves, outlandish outfits and performance antics, and hit singles like Telephone, Just Dance, Poker Face, Paparazzi, Bad Romance, LoveGame, Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say), The Fame, and a lot more.

Fantasia Barrino, grand winner of American Idol’s Season 3, resumes promoting her album Back To Me despite being subjected to close media attention these past weeks.  She was named in a divorce case and there had been allegations of the existence of sex tapes of her and a married man.  She was then hospitalized for an alleged “medical overdose.”

Despite all the bad publicity, Fantasia is bent honoring her previous commitments especially for the promotional tour supporting her album.  She is also set to appear in various shows to promote her new album.  She is also set to be in Las Vegas to attend Steve Harvey’s Hoodie Awards.

In the wake of Fantasia’s travails in her personal life, her single Bittersweet, previously in No. 4 on Billboard list for Adult R&B, is now occupying the top spot.  It joins fantasia’s previous chart toppers Truth Is and Free Yourself.

Fantasia’s second single is scheduled to be announced in the next weeks but there’s currently a buzz on the internet about a newly leaked track that is not yet on the final album, “Lucky.”  The lyrics of the said song is said to tackle the matter of love triangle.

Fantasia is alleged by Paula Cook to have been having an affair with her husband, Antwaun, and alleged that there are times when Fantasia and Antwaun recorded their sexual activity on video.  Rumors of the affair started circulating in November last year when the 26-year old singer was photographed with Antwaun.  Antwaun’s name is said to be tattooed on Fantasia’s upper left shoulder.

Cook has filed for divorce and has been said to have been blaming Fantasia for ending her marriage.  Fantasia’s manager, on the other hand, denied such allegations.  It was said that Fantasia dated Antwaun on and off for eleven months after the latter told her that he and his wife separated last summer.

After Paula Cook’s allegations was reported by the media and got sensationalized, Fantasia was hospitalized for overdose from aspirin and a sleep aid.  The police classified the incident as a suicide attempt.

Barely two weeks after, Fantasia is once again ready to work.  She recently reprised her starring role in Broadway’s The Color Purple in a Los Angeles production.  Her new album Back to Me is set to be released on August 24 and the second season of her reality series for VH1, Fantasia for Real, is set to premier in September 19.
